Why Blog?
I would like to thank Joella the owner of this great blog for allowing me to guest post here. My name is Glenn and I am the owner of my own blog called Man Over Board. Our blog is mainly run as a "mans only" blog, but if you stop by you will see many females, that not only read our blog but post comments there. As a matter of fact Joella is one of our biggest complainers posters and we are so happy to have her stop by on a daily basis.
I am not sure if I can be of much use here on a serious site devoted to boneheads like myself who have a blog and need help maintaining it. But you see, a blog like Joella's, instruct blogs like mine on how to become better at it and in doing so it helps increase our readership. And for that, thank you Joella and the many people that give such fantastic advice. So here I am writing up a post about what else? Blogging.

Because I am not that technically smart nor great at building beautiful blogs, the best I can do here, is post about something I believe I can answer. That is "Why Blog?"
First off, Technorati currently states it is tracking over 112.8 million blogs, a number which does not include all the 72.82 million Chinese blogs. Wow, that's a lot of blogs out there and each day thousands more go online. So it seems that someday, perhaps everyone will have a blog of their own. Why?
For me, I blog because I am in a field where I believe I can help many men. I help teach them how to become a better dresser and also how to buy mens clothing. You see everyone who blogs, believes they have something to offer their readers. And by golly they do. Whether it's how to give your cat a bath (no, not by using your tongue) or what are the main ingredients of your favorite Italian Chicken dish. Every one is semi-professional at something.
Some people are more learned then others and some are better communicators than the blogger next to them. Many are humorous and interesting, and yes some are down right as boring as watching your freezer defrost. But everyone has a story to tell, a life experience to share or a thought that keeps them awake at night. So why not put it in a blog for others to enjoy and maybe give you some insights back?
I could find you all kinds of statistics and technical facts to give you some motivation to start up your own blog. But I keep that for smarter people like Joella, who does it much better than I could.
What I do know about blogging, is that is very addicting and can consume much of your free time. You can be smart about it and set up a certain amount of time each day for blogging like any hobby, or you can become ridiculous and become lost from the rest of your family, barricaded in front of your computer, like some people I know.
Blogging can be many things for each individual who decides to create one. It can become a great counselor to your problems, sometimes talking about your ills and helping make them better. With your own blog, you get help from many different sources and many different opinions.
A blogger becomes friends with different people he ro she would have never met, had they never started their blog.
A blogger becomes knowledgeable about world affairs, not from the TV and major news sources, but from a small family in the Philippines who just survived a major typhoon.
A blogger can be an obsessive women who decides she wants bigger boobs and asks readers for donations to help her buy them.
A blogger could be that handicapped person who each day in the public view is looked at differently and therefore their words are not judged on merit, rather then sympathy.
A blogger finds he is not the only one who loves the Anchorage Hockeypucks but actually one of a group of fans who share them in common.
So you see folks, there are many reasons why you should start a blog. But I remember one thing I was taught when I was a wee bit of a child. Some people are doers and some people are followers. So while I personally would love everyone to don a blogger hat, I am forever grateful for those who would rather sit back on the sidelines and stop by to read the profound words that come from the keyboards of the millions of bloggers that currently want to spread their wings.
